8 October - National Symposium on Farmers' Mental Health and Wellbeing

Event Description

The mental health and wellbeing of Farmers’ is extremely important, not only because of the detrimental effect on Farmers and their families but also the direct impact on the nation’s vital agricultural industry. Farming has a unique set of pressures, with farmers being more likely to suffer from depression caused by financial pressures, isolation, personal drought-related stress, community drought-related stress and the impact of the recent Black Summer 2019/20 bushfires.

With that in mind, the Foundation is organising a National Symposium on Farmers’ Mental Health to raise awareness about mental health and wellbeing among farmers, and to have a discussion on the status of support services available to them.
