Community Media Partnerships Program 2022

About the program

With a strong focus on building community linkages, in 2022, the Foundation is introducing a Community Media Partnership Program to connect and engage with Media organisations including ethnic media such as yours to further widen our reach, to promote better mental health in the ethnic and CALD communities across Australia. Australia is a successful multicultural country that lets us freely express our multicultural identities, beliefs, and practices, which can help us to adjust – and that bolsters our mental health. However, it is crucial that care and support services are well connected with the ethnic communities to provide culture-specific care to promote health and wellbeing in our communities.

Aims of the program

To facilitate connection and to increase awareness of mental health in CALD communities, as well as in the wider Australian community, the Foundation would like to establish community media partnerships with various organisations.

The idea of establishing community partnerships came from our very successful Multicultural Ambassador Program of the past 4 years as well as bonds we have formed with other organisations in the past, including media. We believe engaging with media organisations, would be a great way forward in terms of mental health stigma reduction and an increase in awareness building.

What we require

The MHFA is calling upon community media organisations to work with us on a 3-year term. This will include various events run in partnership throughout the year, and particularly within National Mental Health Month (October), amongst other initiatives. Together we can better establish a platform to reach out to your community to begin conversations about mental health and promote mental wellbeing through education, support services, advocacy, awareness and build resilience. We believe if we partner with various community organisations, the impact we create would reach the wider community and we can achieve fantastic outcomes in bettering mental health in the broader Australian community.
