Current Open Position

Supervisory Psychologist

Are you looking for a new and unique job opportunity? We may have the right opportunity for you!

Mental Health Foundation Australia is Australia's oldest community based mental health organisation, advocating and raising awareness of mental health for 92 years. We are looking for a fully registered Psychologist, and Psychology Board of Australia approved Supervisor to join our team and manage our Integrated Mental Health Wellness Hub in South Yarra.

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone wanting to work within community mental health and to help nurture the skills of budding mental health clinicians. The MHFA’s proposed Mental Health Wellness Hub is a comprehensive, fully integrated, multidisciplinary health service for youth, adults, carers and families to be located at 10 Yarra Street, South Yarra, 3141.

The MHFA aims to develop partnerships with Universities to engage placement students on a 10 week rotation - particularly Masters of Counselling Students (who will conduct intake assessments for all clients who seek the Hub) and Provisional Psychologists (who will conduct ongoing therapy for clients). Placement students will complete a 10 week placement after which a new set of students will come in.

Our Supervisory Psychologist is to provide supervision to placement students and manage the clinical operations of the hub. They can also see their own clients through the hub who have MHCPs or who are full fee paying clients. A typical day for the Principal Psychologist may look like seeing 3 clients of their own and 2-3 supervision sessions.

A key factor of our Hub is its integrated nature. We have a wellness wheel concept in which multiple service providers including access to social workers and other allied health workers, community organisations, job agencies, law firms etc. who will come on board to service clients attending the hub as they need - an outcome based service.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, support and manage the hub and placement students to deliver comprehensive evidence-based assessments and interventions to youth and adult clients.
  • Revise and endorse professional, authoritative, and evidence-based assessment reports to inform on risk factors, treatment options and case management of clients.
  • Administrative client-related work.
  • The role will also be required to manage a limited clinical case load of assessment and intervention.

Benefits

  • Growth: Our hub provides a unique experience to develop and widen skill sets of Supervisors
  • Support: Successful candidates will become part of the MHFA family having on board many experienced clinicians and professionals of other disciplines
  • Innovation: Our Senior Psychologist will have an opportunity to shape our service delivery model, with a focus on continuous improvement and a desire to lead the field.
  • Variety: We deliver services in a range of contexts and as a leader you will have a role in direct service delivery, indirect service delivery through the management and supervision of others. You will also maintain leadership portfolios and the management of various projects.

  • Full Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Experience in the management and/or supervision of a clinical team.
  • Psychology Board approved supervisor.
  • Highly professional, organised and reliable with incredible time management skills.
